China Radio International's English Service is looking for talented and flexible broadcast journalists for its multimedia newsroom.  


Programme Hosts

Working primarily on our flagship news program, The Beijing Hour, and the in depth discussion show Today. Successful applicants will be confident and authoritative presenters; propose and develop ideas; be able to carry out interviews; research and write questions; proof-read scripts compiled by Chinese co-workers; occasionally report in the field; and contribute to other live shows as directed. They will also be required to prepare material for our website, news app or social media outlets, and attend occasional promotional activities.

Reporters

Reporters will write and edit stories related to Chinese and international affairs. Book guests for interviews. Research topics independently and write questions for interviews when necessary. They may also be asked to participate in on-air discussions with co-hosts. This position also involves tasks related to new media, such as editing, transcribing audio, and social media posting.


The English service is a busy and exciting department. You should be a team player and be happy to pitch in with departmental activities.


Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree

  • Native English speaker with outstanding communication skills

  • Journalistic experience, good news writing and editing skills.

  • Excellent presenting skills.

  • Intimate knowledge of current events and international affairs, particularly as pertaining to China

  • Ability to work against deadlines.

  • Flexibility and ability to work at irregular hours, weekends, holidays. 

  • Team spirit and open-mindedness.
