40th anniversary of China-U.S. student exchange marked in Washington
The 40th anniversary of China-U.S. student exchange was marked in Washington on November 21, 2019. Chinese Ambassador to the United States, Cui Tiankai, delivered a speech during the event. “Student exchange program between China and America can promote mutual understanding and trust. I hope we can work together to open a new chapter of educational exchange and cooperation,” he said.

Former U.S. president Jimmy Carter sent his congrats on the event. He said the education exchange between the two countries is an important way to enhance mutual understanding.
More than 400 people from China and America participated this event. Cui Tiankai also announced the U.S. short-term scholarship program was launched for American students who want to study in China. It will support 2,500 U.S. students to study in China in a short term every year.
