The 20th Beihai Lotus Flower Exhibition started on June 27th in Beihai Park, which aims to educate the public about the lotus and its cultural significance. Lotus represents purity and dignity in Chinese society.

It has also inspired artworks, architecture, and design throughout China's history and continues to do so in modern China.

Chinese writers and poets often describe lotus as the most elegant breed of flower because despite that it grows out of mud, it is not affected by the damp environment.

In traditional Chinese culture, Bing Dilian means "two lotus flowers on one stalk"; this is a metaphorical expression that refers to a married couple.Beihai Park is a public park and a former imperial garden located in northwestern Beijing.
