Reunion concert to be held for celebration of the 30th anniversary of TV series Dream of the Red Chamber(1987)

2017 marks the 30^th anniversary of a TV series Dream of the Red Chamber (1987), produced by CCTV. The story-line, music, and plot adaptation have all helped the show enjoy great success within the realms of Chinese costume dramas. The series has already been broadcast in several different countries, such as Germany, Republic of Korea, Indonesia, and Singapore. To commemorate the show, leading actors and production crew have decided to gather together and plan a reunion concert on June 17 in Beijing. The theme of the reunion concert will be "Our Dream of the Red Chamber", and it aims to bring this classic back to modern audiences, evoke their emotion and memories of this heartfelt story, and fuel the public's passion for classic Chinese literature.

Dream of the Red Chamber (1987) was adapted from a masterpiece of the same title. The novel is one of the Four Great Classical Novels in Chinese literature, composed in the Qing Dynasty. It is remarkable not only because of its complicated relationships among characters, but also because it is a typical example of reflecting the details of life and social structures in the 18^th century Chinese society. The novel has been translated into 20 languages.

Ouyang Fenqiang who portraed a leading charactor-Jia Baoyu said they received support from different sectors of the society, such as crew from the show, expert groups, and organizations when they were preparing the concert. Singers Chen Li and Wang Jieshi, who song a number of famous interludes in the drama, will represent the original songs for the loyal audience at the concert. The original Orchestra who contributed in the drama has already started rehearsing for the concert.

The concert will take the audience back to the time when they first watched the drama and experienced happiness, sorrow, and controversial life of the characters from Dream of the Red Chamber.
