The list includes 350 universities from 25 Asian countries and regions, with Singapore's National University topping the rankings for the third consecutive year.
Among the top ten universities, two are from Singapore, three from Hong Kong, two from South Korea, and one from Japan.
China has the second largest number of universities on the list, with 63 universities listed. Japan has the largest number of universities in the list of 350, with 89 universities included.
The results of the Times Higher Education rankings show that China is quickly catching up with Japan as Asia's major higher education powerhouse. This is in part the result of a rise in the citation impact of its research.
