The advance of technologies is reshaping our lives and the world we live in.

Smart phones, cloud computing and social-networking technology, etc. may empower an individual to an unprecedented status of “marker or breaker” of the world.

This is according to Thomas Friedman—author of The World is Flat and a fervent promoter of globalization.

In a recent lecture at the Center for China and Globalization think-tank in Beijing, Friedman argues that the year 2007 is hugely significant in terms of technological innovations.

He says in a reshaped globalized world, “learning matters more than ever” and the golden rule of “do unto others as you wish them to do unto you” should be embraced by the empowered individuals.
