The Sichuan Ganzi Mountain Tourism Festival kicked off in the picturesque scenic area of Daocheng Yading on August 13th.

With the theme of 'Visiting Ganzi, Enjoying Driving', the festival aims to promote the beautiful scenery in the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province and its tourist resources.

Activities are held in six counties in Ganzi, namely Daocheng, Yajiang, Litang, Batang, Xiangcheng and Derong; the major host county is Daocheng.

At the opening ceremony of the festival, Ganzi senior official Xiao Youcai introduces the tourism resources of Ganzi, particularly its peculiar mountains and rivers.

He says the combination of scenic spots and the pleasant local community make Ganzi a competitive tourist destination.

Ganzi is one of the few places in China pioneering integrative tourism, which is the practice of integrating cultural tourism, agricultural tourism, glacier tourism and urban tourism.

Ganzi is making efforts to build itself into a national tourism demonstration region, gradually becoming a popular travel destination for global tourists.
