Alibaba, one of the biggest e-commerce platforms in China, released a report to analyze shopping habits of “empty nest youth” and revealed how they described their lives.

According to the report, there are more than 50 million "empty nest youth" in China, and the number of this group is growing. The term "empty nest youth" describes people who are aged between 20 to 39, and live on their own. They work in major metropolises and are far away from their hometowns.

The report offers a candid snapshot of the life styles of the empty nest youth. Most of them prefer to stay at home after work, and they tend to order products and services online, from food delivery to in-home massage services.
