According to the latest data released by the National Statistics Bureau, Beijing saw its consumer price index (CPI) in June 2017 decrease 0.4% compared with the previous month. It increased 2.5% compared to the same time last year.

In the first half of this year, Beijing's CPI rose 2% compared with the same period last year. The price of eggs climbed 5.1% compared to the previous year, due to hot weather and a low storage rate.

Statistics from last month showed that food prices fell 2.9% year-on-year. The National Statistics Bureau suggests that adequate supply of meat, fresh vegetables and fruit were the main reason for the food price decline. The price of pork, fresh vegetables, and fruit experienced decreases of 1.7%, 1.3%, and 17.3% respectively.

Tourism and accommodation costs are increasing as the summer holiday has been underway since June. Service fees from travel agencies rose 0.3% and accommodation fees increased 3.1%.

Influenced by the fluctuation of international commodity prices, the price of gasoline and flight tickets dropped 2.1% and 3.1% respectively.
