Surgeons discovered 27 contact lenses in the right eye of a 67-year-old woman who had worn disposable lenses for 35 years.

The woman had not whined about any irritation, because she just believed that it was just dry eye and old age causing her discomfort, but her doctors in the UK found the real cause of her discomfort when she scheduled for routine cataract surgery.

It was fearsome results: 27 contact lenses accumulate in the woman's right eye in a "blue mass." A mass of 17 contact lenses were bound together by mucus, and a further 10 contact lenses were found by the surgeon using a microscope.

Nevertheless after the lenses were removed, she said she felt much more comfortable. The left eye was fine. The surgeon said the right eye had poorer vision, which might be a factor in the lenses becoming lost.
