To any readers who are not familiar with the peculiar concept of an April Fool  - I am jealous of you!

Every year, on April 1st, people in a small number of countries including Britain, Ireland and Poland, will play pranks on each other.

The problem is, the jokes must be played by lunchtime, or else they don't count. This means that invariably, the jokes are made as early as possible - usually before I've had time to realise what day it is.

It drives me mad!

Anyway, back to the story. April Fools day has actually worked out well for one Scottish company, Mackie's Crisps, where the staff dreamed-up the idea of strawberry flavoured crisps as a joke.

It turned-out that they actually tasted much better than anyone thought. What's more, at a trade show, it transpired that the flavour combination of savoury potato with sweet strawberry was particularly attractive to the taste buds of some Chinese buyers.

Fast forward a few months, and the crisps are now en route to China, ready for sale in Shanghai.

Apparently, if they prove successful with Chinese consumers, the crisps might also be launched in Britain.

And just before you think - 'ah ha! this story is an April Fools joke' - I promise you that it's not. We're nowhere near April, and I already told you that I HATE April Fools jokes!
