Beijing employees top average annual income list for 2016

Beijing employees topped the average annual income list for 2016 with an income of nearly 120,000 yuan (18,000 US dollars), while employees in Henan Province found themselves at the bottom with only 50,000 yuan, nbd.com.cn reported.

Among the 29 provincial-level regions that have released data, Shanghai, Xinjiang, Liaoning, and Hubei released the combined annual income across the whole society, while the others separately released data for workers in the public and private sectors.

Data from National Bureau of Statistics revealed that in 2016 the average annual income for urban workers in the public sector was 67,569 yuan, with a year-on-year growth rate of 8.9 percent, while workers in the private sector earned 42,833 yuan on average, up 8.2 percent.

The growth rate of the average annual income of urban workers from both the private and public sectors in the eastern regions topped the list at over 9 percent, followed by the western, central and northeast regions.

Private sector employees in Beijing, Zhejiang, Hainan, Jiangxi, Henan, Guizhou and Jilin outpaced the national growth rate for average annual income, with Beijing leading with an increase of 12.3 percent.
