90 percent of luxury car gains in China!

That's according to The Nikkei, who have calculated the figure based on data from the world's leading luxury car manufacturers.

Apparently, nearly 10 million high-end vehicles were sold in 2017, a rise of some 5 percent when compared with 2016.

Of this 5 percent rise, The Nikkei calculated that 90 percent came from growing demand in China.

We've reported extensively over the last few months on growing efforts by luxury car brands to focus on the Chinese market.

For example, during 2017, Aston Martin revealed a new edition of its V8 Vantage S in Shanghai, which was only available in China.

Called the 'Great Britain Edition', the latest variant of the supercar was priced at just a tad under £240,000, with a limited production run of just five vehicles.

The Aston, which was unveiled at the Shanghai motor show, featured a blue leather interior and some exclusive touches such as unique upholstery.

The fact that the Great Britain Edition was offered for sale only in China was particularly interesting on two levels.

Firstly, it illustrated the growing importance of the country as a market for supercars.

Secondly, the choice of name reveals much about growing cultural and trade relations between China and the United Kingdom. Amongst many Chinese, British goods are in demand for their reputation of quality and style – something that Aston Martin is clearly trying to embody here.
