Mystery surrounds a video posted online entitled "Pupils chucking a small yellow bike into the river."

The small yellow bike in question appears to have belonged to the Ofo bike sharing company.

Some netizens have suggested the footage was filmed at Liangqing district, Nanning, in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, reported.

Local police say they haven't received any reports of the incident, but will look into it, according to media reports.

According to the law, those who damage or steal the shared bikes could face criminal punishment.
