◇Sun Xirui

Chinese in America

Sun Xirui studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and she has lived in U.S. for one and a half years.

☆Highlights:
For Sun, the most attractive thing about the U.S. is its astonishing convenience, as people can get whatever they want in all the stores.

Sun says the U.S. is basically a smaller version of the entire world, but it has boundaries only set for a certain group of people. She thinks most Americans are friendly but that they are a little bit ignorant about what's happening in other countries and they get information based on their imagination of their stereotypical ideas of other countries. Based on her conversations with Americans in the classroom, Sun says they try to show they care about the world but that they also think that they want to help developing countries instead of developing together with people in those countries.

When talking about future China-U.S. relations, Sun feels there would be more and more cooperation between the two nations in education. Sun hopes that there will be more opportunities for Chinese students in the field of education to find jobs in the U.S.
