New study links anxiety in China with overall health

Over 40% of people in China with anxiety are said to be maintaining unhealthy lifestyles, according to a new report.

The report on Chinese Citizens' Health Conditions from Chinese Medicine's Perspective, published on Tuesday, also contends that 23% people between 20 and 44 years old are not in a state of proper health.

The report also breaks down specifics.

It finds that overall in China, 51% of people are considered healthy, while 17.2% are unhealthy and 31.7% are somewhere in between.

41.4% of people in China with anxiety are considered unhealthy, while only 4.1% who are not reporting anxiety are considered unhealthy.

In terms of age, 23% of people 20 and 44 years old are not considered healthy, which is the highest level among various age groups.

The study also says 18.1% of people living in urban areas are living an unhealthy lifestyle. That number drops to 13.6% for people in rural areas.

41.5% of people who do some form of exercise are considered healthy. 20.5% of people who also exercise still fall into the unhealthy category.

The report also suggests 25.1% of people living in a core family environment (husband, wife and child) are considered unhealthy. That figure drops to 13.8% for people who have an elderly family member living with them.
