Man saved after 30-minute cardiac arrest

A 56-year-old man from Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang province was saved after his heart stopped beating for close to half an hour.

The patient was sent to Harbin No.2 Hospital at 8:55 a.m. on Sunday. His family reported the man had stopped breathing 10 minutes earlier due to a sudden asthma attack.

Initial signs suggested the patient had died. However, doctors decided to try to resuscitate him anyway. 20 minutes of CPR and other techniques finally restored the man's heart beat at 9:15 a.m. 15 minutes later, the patient was breathing on his own.
