The Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) – dubbed the world's first "virtual track train" – has made its first public appearance in the city of Zhuzhou in central China's Hunan Province. The vehicle, a cross between a train and a bus, is 32 meters long and 3.4 meters high. It can accommodate 307 passengers and has a top speed of 70 kilometers per hour. Instead of tracks, it runs on rubber tires along white-dotted lines on the test ground, controlled by hundreds of sensors. A lithium titanate battery enables it to run 25 kilometers after just 10 minutes of charging.
