Authorities have said a foreign woman was caught at an airport in Shanghai trying to smuggle in 10 kilograms of cocaine.

The cocaine was reportedly molded into suitcases mixed with other materials.

According to the city's customs officials, the suitcases raised suspicion when X-ray images showed them to appear darker than normal suitcases.

Officers also said the suitcases also weighed much more than normal ones and a male officer couldn't even hold one in a single hand.

The authority declined to release the nationality of the suspect, but said she was from a southeastern Asian country.

This is the first time such a smuggling method has been discovered in China, though a recent case has been reported in Germany.
