China has suggested it will set up more overseas military bases in countries such as Pakistan after establishing its supply facility in Djibouti.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks in response to a Pentagon report on Chinese military and security development

While commenting the report, Hua urged the United States to view Chinese military development more objectively and rationally.

"We hope the U.S. side can abandon its Cold War mentality, view Chinese military development in an objective and rational way, and uphold, with the steady development of relations between China and the U.S. and between their armed forces," said the spokesperson.

Hua Chunying said that China and Pakistan, as friendly neighbors, have been expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in a variety of fields.

She noted that such cooperation will not target any third parties.

In the Meanwhile, China's defense ministry also expressed strong opposition to the Pentagon report.

The ministry dismissed the remarks in the report as "irresponsible," which it said exaggerates China's military spending and distorts China's military developments.

The Ministry spokesman Wu Qian reiterated China's national defense development is meant to defend the country's territorial sovereignty and security interests.

"In recent years, Chinese military have been active in peacekeeping, escort missions, and disaster relief, which are widely appreciated in the international community," Wu added.

The US report points a finger at China's overseas military bases, construction on the islands in the South China Sea and China's use of the world's first quantum satellite.

Wu Qian said such accusations are groundless speculations, as China's military budget has always been transparent and China's actions in military reform, weapons development, and cyber defense building are reasonable.

The military spokesman urged the US to take actions to promote the military relationship between the two countries.
