Big brands seize trademark initiative in copycats battle

If you are a big household name brand, how do you protect yourself from copycats and companies trying to steal your trade?

One answer is to seize the initiative and register as many as trademarks with similar characters or pronunciation as you can, reports caijing.com.cn.

The Xiaomi and Redmi are well known popular mobile phone brands in China. To protect their trade, the company has registered bluemi, blackmi, purplemi, orangemi and so on, almost all the colors you can imagine.

China's e-commerce giant Alibaba has also registered Alimama, Aligrandma, Aligrandpa, Alibaby and Papa Jack Ma to avoid others registering and creating cheap copies of their products.

The White Rabbit milk candy brand has registered dozens of brands related to rabbits such as Grey Rabbit, Black Rabbit, Golden Rabbit and the like.
