"The Cutest Solar Farm" located in Datong, Shanxi Province offers clean energy in an adorable fashion, as well as education to youth about renewable energy.

Called the Panda Power Plant, the first stage has recently been completed which now generates about 50 MW of clean energy. When it is finished, the solar farm is expected to cover approximately 1,500 acres and will have an aggregate installed capacity of 100 MW.

Since 2016, Panda Green Energy has been working with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to promote the development of renewable sources of energy in China.

According to the company, the 100 MW Panda Power Plant is set to offer 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours of green power in 25 years, saving 1.056 million tons of coal and reducing carbon emissions by 2.74 million tons. [Photo: China Merchants New Energy]

Further, the panda's different parts are both useful. The black parts of the panda, such as the ears and arms, are comprised of monocrystalline silicone solar cells, with the grey and white tummy and face composed of thin film solar cells, according to Inhabitat.com.

Not only will the solar farm offer clean electricity, but the panda solar stations are part of an education effort. Reportedly, a youth activity center at the Panda Power Plant targeted at schoolchildren that will help educate them on the benefits of renewable energy, specifically solar power.
