The vest is made up of three parts: a liquid that absorbs the heat of the human body, a column shaped cooling unit, and a battery pack.

Weighing about 3.3 kilograms, it is easy to put on and it uses rechargeable batteries which can last about one hour or two hours.

According to the makers, it will keep body heat below 30 degrees Celsius when outdoor temperatures hit 37 degrees Celsius.

So far, the vest has been ordered by traffic police, firefighters and the ground crew at the airport.

But the public will soon also be able to buy the vest through online shopping platforms such as Tmall and WeChat at the price of 2, 000 to 3,000 yuan (about 443 USD).

It’s reported researchers are also planning to develop another version of the vest which will be more affordable and even lighter.
