Safety concerns after bear incident at Beijing wildlife park

Safety fears have been raised again after a car visiting a Beijing wildlife park was encircled by a bear, which then poked its head inside the driver's window looking for food, reports the Beijing Youth Daily.

A video posted online shows a vehicle with its window fully-open on a safari-style tour at the Beijing Badaling Wildlife Park. The bear encircled the car for a few seconds, then poking its head inside and reaching in.

The occupants of the car can be seen throwing food out of the window, some hitting the bear's face.

Visitors are warned to keep their windows closed at all times while driving through the wildlife park.

Park officials told Beijing Youth daily they had received no calls about the incident but were investigating.

Similar recent incidents at wildlife parks have triggered public uproar over the twelve months.

In July of last year, a woman was killed at the same park, after she left her vehicle to help her daughter who was attacked and left seriously injured by a tiger.

Early in February, again at the Beijing Badaling Wildlife Park, a car was also reportedly surrounded by bears after a child passenger opened a window.
