The family of a Nanjing businessman kidnapped and found dead in the United Arab Emirates has requested that the suspects be extradited to China, reports the Yangse Evening News' multimedia platform Purple Cow News.

The businessman, surnamed Luo, went missing shortly after arriving in Dubai on August 4. He'd been invited by his 47-year-old business partner, surnamed Xu, to visit a project in Portugal.

Soon after, Xu contacted Luo's family saying that she had to return to China early, and then couldn't be contacted.

Luo's son later received messages from his father's WeChat account, saying he'd lost his passport and had been arrested in Thailand on suspicion of drug trafficking while trying to get back home. Luo's wife and son flew to Thailand only to find the businessman had never traveled to the country.

On September 16, they were contacted by the police in Dubai and told that the body of the businessman had been found in the desert some 400 kilometers away from the city.

They said that Xu and her 29-year-old son had tortured Luo to get the passwords for his bank accounts and had transferred his money before murdering him on August 5. Local police also found that Luo's credit card had been used in Europe and 200,000 Dirham (about 54,500 US dollars) had been transferred from his account.

The Dubai and Chinese police traced the flow of money and located Xu and her son who had escaped to Australia. They have now been extradited to Dubai, but the family has asked for them to face justice in China.

Dubai police said the extradition might prove difficult as Luo's body had been discovered on the border with another emirate, Abu Dhabi.
