China's tallest building is to be built in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, reports scpublic.cn.

The 677-meter-high tower will be sited near the Fuzhou Road in Tianfu new district.

Once completed, it'll also be the second highest in the world.

A 468-meter-high building is also being built in Chengdu by the Shanghai-based Greenland Group.

The current tallest building in the whole of China is the 632-meter-high Shanghai Tower.

Back in 1926, the highest building in Chengdu was the Coles Memorial Clock Tower with a height of just 30 meters.
