Henan's capital, Zhengzhou, is expected to become an international commercial hub by 2049.

In the first half of this year, over 100 million parcels have been imported and exported from 15 cross-border e-commerce pilot cities.

Among them, one-third of the volume goes through Zhengzhou.

CRI's Huang Yue has more.

With a well-developed transportation network and an advantage in its geographic location, the city of Zhengzhou in Henan has already become a significant international logistics and cargo distribution hub.

A variety of imported products, including juice from Poland, milk from Belarus, French wine, South Korean cosmetics and more are all moved through Zhengzhou's bonded warehouse.

Yang Wenjun, vice general manager of Zhengzhou International Hub Development and Construction Company, says Chinese people can purchase the freshest imported food and beverages at the Customs center.

"Food and beverages imported from Europe are delivered to hundreds of thousands of Chinese families. Take milk for instance. Customers can buy the freshest milk here because we have fast freight train and the customs clearance procedures are simplified. We are glad that Chinese people now can benefit from the development."

And Henan Bonded Logistics Center is said to be at the center of Zhengzhou's success.

Established in 2010, the Henan Bonded Logistics Center is now home to around 14-hundred companies, drawing imports from 55 countries and regions.

Han Aijuan, Vice President of the center, says the so-called "Zhengzhou mode" is being promoted across the whole country.

"Traditionally, cross-border e-commerce mode is Business to Customer, or 'B2C', but the 'Zhengzhou mode' is Business to Business to Customer, or 'B2B2C', so that China Customs, as well as the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, can take the responsibility to supervise imports. This is a concept which is being promoted across the whole country."

At the same time, Chinese commodities are also being exported through the "Zhengzhou mode."

Lv Xuyang is the marketing manager of the Henan Logistics Bonded Center.

"3-years ago when President Xi Jinping visited here, we had very little export. But since then, we have been expanded. Total export volumes last year reached 30 million yuan, over four million US dollars. Henan Province is the one of the biggest export hubs for products from Yiwu in Zhejiang."

Yiwu is considered China's main manufacturing center for small-scale commodities.

The Chinese government has laid out plans to turn Zhengzhou into a regional logistics hub, with plans to direct most of the country's freight air traffic to the city.

The Zhengzhou Municipal Government says it hopes to become known as an international commercial metropolis by 2049.

For CRI, this is Huang Yue.
