Chinese senior legislator under investigation

Meng Wei, vice chairman of the Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee of the 12th National People's Congress, is being investigated for severe disciplinary violations.

The Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection made the announcement on its website Friday.

Meng formerly headed the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences.
