York can expect an influx of tourism next month, largely due to growing interest from Chinese visitors. This follows a trend that has developed over the last two years, with China now the 2nd largest driving force for tourism in the city.

China is also the most valuable for overall international expenditure, with a worldwide spend of over £197 billion.

The increased popularity for York can also be credited to celebrity endorsements. In 2015, Asian popstar Jay Chou married Australian actress Hannah Quinlivan there, which has attracted young Asian couples on the hunt for wedding locations.
