Students start final preparations for postgraduate entrance exams

A large number of senior college students are undertaking last minute study for the upcoming 2018 National Postgraduate Entrance Exams, which are set to begin on December 23, 2017.

In preparation for the exams, many students at Shandong University of Science and Technology in Qingdao, east China’s Shandong Province began their morning reading at 7:00 am every day from early November. Some of them are studying for more than 12 hours a day.

With the exams approaching, it is the busiest time of year for campus libraries. The library at Shandong Polytechnic University has a total of 3,000 seats and opens at 5:00 am. Students usually form a hundred-meter-long queue in front of the library starting from 4:00 am.

When there were no more vacant seats in the study room, some students studied in the passageway or on the stairs.

The national postgraduate entrance exams have become increasingly popular among Chinese college students in recent years. Statistics show that over 2 million students took part in the exam in 2017, and it is estimated a new record will be set in 2018.
