A fire at a chemical plant killed seven people and injured four others on Tuesday in east China's Shandong Province, local authorities said.

The fire started at 9:20 a.m. at the workshop of a chemical company in Changle County, Weifang City, according to a statement from the city government.

The blaze has been extinguished. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
