Wang, accompanied by his father and sister, traveled from Yunnan's Ludian County, to arrive in Beijing on January 19, 2018. Over the next three days, they will visit Beijing's Police Museum and the People's Public Security University of China so that he can learn of what the role a police officer really entails. Wang had previously told the media that his dream was to go to Beijing and become a police officer.

That evening, Wang recalled the many exciting "firsts" he had experienced since he setting foot in the capital, including the first time he had travelled so far, his first flight, first time eating the Beijing specialty roast duck, the first time he saw tall buildings and cars, and first time feeling the central heating system.

Wang told The Beijing News that Beijing was warmer than his hometown and he was eager to see how students go to school in Beijing to find out if they need to walk a long way like he does.

"I hope to find a better school for him, whether it's in Beijing or not," said Wang's father.

On Jan 8, third grade student Wang's hair turned white in minus 9-degree temperatures as he walked for over an hour, traveling 4.5 kilometers, to Zhuan Shan Bao Primary School in Xinjie County, southwest China's Yunnan Province

After a picture of his white hair went viral, Zhuan Shan Bao Primary School received all donations from the Communist Youth League of Yunnan Provincial party committee, Yunnan Youth Development Foundation, Yunnan Youth Volunteers, and Kunming branch of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd.
