A court in Zhengzhou, Henan Province has cleared a suspect, Yang Fan, of charges for the death of an elderly man due to a heart attack.
The ruling also reverses a previous court ruling in Zhengzhou of 15,000 yuan in compensation from Yang to the dead man's family.
Yang asked a 69-year-old man not to smoke in the elevator of their apartment building last May.
The two exchanged words before the man collapsed of a heart attack outside the elevator.
Yang, who is a doctor, performed CPR, but the man later died.
Surveillance footage showed Yang Fan did not make physical contact with the man in the elevator.
The court has determined there was no evidence to show that Yang played any role on the man's death.
