Empire State Building shines for Chinese Lunar New Year

The Empire State Building in New York shined in red and gold at dusk on Tuesday to celebrate the upcoming Spring Festival.

Chinese Consul General in New York, Zhang Qiyue, and John B. Kessler, President of the Empire State Realty Trust, flipped the switch to light a model of the Empire State Building at a ceremonial lighting ceremony on February 13, 2018.

In addition, a month-long window showcase themed "The Year of the Dog" is being held inside the building to mark the Chinese Lunar New Year.

"The light-show at the Empire State Building promotes communication and cultural exchanges between China and the US," said Zhang Qiyue.

In addition to the Empire State Building, the Effiel Tower in Paris will also be lit up in red on the eve of the Lunar New Year.
