Tang Dynasty dress and Yuanxiao goes viral

A photo series showing a model dressed as woman of the court from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) with exaggerated facial expressions and enjoying Yuanxiao, glutinous rice dumplings for the Lantern Festival, has gone viral on the Internet in China.

The court lady refuses to eat Yuanxiao at the beginning, claiming she is on a diet. However, the photo eventually shows her relenting.

The creator and model of the photo series, Ao Luojia (pseudonym), says she shot the photos to help celebrate the Lantern Festival and spread traditional Chinese culture.

The 38-year-old Ao also shot photo series Sending Red Packets for the Chinese Lunar New Year two weeks ago. Encouraged by the popularity of the photo series Enjoying Yuanxiao, Ao says she will continue to shoot photos for other traditional festivals wearing her self-designed traditional clothing.
