A Media Leaders Summit for Asia on the sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia, has been held in Sanya, with more than 140 media representatives attending the forum to talk about cooperation among Asian countries.

The head of the CPC Publicity Department, Huang Kunming, delivered the keynote speech to the opening of the event.

Huang has suggested the media in Asian countries should be working together to spread the voice of Asia.

"We should strengthen solidarity and cooperation, actively participate in the making of international regulations, strive for more representation and voices of Asian countries in international affairs. International public opinion needs to be more objective and balanced. The media in Asia should spread Asia's own voice and aspirations."

The Media summit has focused on four key themes.

They include Communication and cooperation among media organizations to build a common destiny in Asia, the Development of the Belt and Road Initiative and new opportunities for international broadcast, China's Reform and Opening up process 40 years on, as well as ways to facilitate cultural understanding among Asian cultures.

Among those taking part in the sub forums is Susumo Okinata, head of the Asahi Broadcasting Group.

He says his organization has been working with Chinese media organizations more closely through the years.

"Our group has paid great attention to overseas cooperation in recent years. Many of the programs we produced have been broadcast in Asian countries. In China, we have cooperated with bilibili, IQiyi, Tencent video, Youku and other video sites. Asia is not only a place for us to carry out business cooperation, but also an important area for us to develop mutually through cooperation. I firmly believe that through strengthening cooperation, we can achieve information sharing and mutual understanding, thus contributing more to the future of Asia as a whole."

The Asia Media Forum's goal is to unite the voice of Asia, and helps to enhance Asia's influence.

Organizers say this year's forum has connected all Asian media, and should help contribute to their wisdom and strength.
