Sun Shaocheng is the minister of the newly-formed ministry, with Qian Feng and Guan Yongxiang as vice-ministers.

The new ministry will be in charge of making and implementing policies and regulations connected to demobilized military personnel, honoring the dedication and spirit of veterans, as well as dealing with veteran retirement, reemployment and vocational training issues.

The move is part of broader institutional restructuring approved at the 13th National People's Congress last month.

Other ministries dealing with emergency management, ecological and environmental protection and press, publication, copyright and films have also been inaugurated in Beijing.
