China's first deep-sea fish farm, "Shenlan 1," is set to become operational in the Yellow Sea, reports the Economic Daily.

Designed by the Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Company, the facility is meant to breed fish in warm, open seas.

"Shenlan 1" is going to be able to raise an estimated 300,000 salmon at one time.

Wuchang Shipbuilding claims "Shenlan 1" will make China the first country able to breed salmon on a large scale in open, warm water.

Industry insiders say "Shenlan 1" will help boost China's fish farming potential, helping bolster the country's ocean resources.
