The 15th China International Film and TV Program Exhibition has kicked off at the Beijing Exhibition Center.

More than 300 participants from over 50 countries are taking part in the 15th China International Film and TV Programs Exhibition.

Both domestic and overseas television productions and films are on display at the event.

Visitors can also get to see some of the latest in virtual reality and new media technologies.

"What I believe is especially notable is the special stand set up for the Belt and Road Media Community, as well as another stand for China's Film and TV Import and Export Association, which was established last November. Through these two exhibitions, visitors can get to know the contribution we have made to help Chinese culture go global, and to promoting the Belt and Road Initiative," says Shen Jianing, the general manager of China Radio, Film, and Television Programs Exchange Center.

One of the Belt and Road Media Community's partners is the UK's Dove Media, which broadcasts a program called "China Hour" on Sky TV, aiming to boost cultural exchange between China and the UK.

"What we are aiming to do is to produce lots of content from different countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly content from companies involved with the Belt and Road. We are showing Chinese programs in the UK and they're proving to be very popular on Sky Television and other platforms. And we are also looking to provide content from the UK to China itself. This is going to be a huge interest between the two cultures," says Gordon, the program's chief editor.

Meng Yi, an official with the National Multi-language Movie and TV Drama Dubbing Base, which is part of China Media Group, talks about their work in making Chinese films and TV accessible for international audiences.

"We work with national TV stations or mainstream media in other countries on jointly producing the program called "China Theater." Film and TV series translated and dubbed by China are broadcast through those media. "China Theater" has been successfully broadcast in more than 30 countries, and we also have agreements with more than 50 media organizations, and we seek to make further breakthroughs," says Meng.

Rodrigo Lommerte, a Brazilian visitor at the exhibition, says he learns about Chinese culture by watching Chinese films and TV series.

"I do like the action ones, I like the police ones, I like the horror ones. Those are rare to find in Brazil, but I do like them. There are many things we do not know, and by watching those dramas can we understand the Chinese people's lives, and cultures, and language. Watching dramas is a way to understand a little bit more deeply how Chinese society works; it's better than reading a history book. It's more visual and more sentimental," says Lommerte.

This year's event is the first to be sponsored by China Media Group, an organization launched last month that is made up of CCTV, China National Radio, and China Radio International.
