Zhengzhou, the capital of central China's Henan Province, will provide up to five million yuan and housing of up to 300 square meters as a bonus to attract more highly-skilled professionals to work in the city, reports Zhengzhou Evening Post. The move is part of a wider campaign to attract skilled professionals to China's second and third-tier cities, such as Tianjin, Nanjing, Xi'an, and Chengdu.

The city of Xi'an in northwest China has taken the lead with its efforts to recruit skilled professionals. In one year alone, more than 400,000 people were granted a hukou for the city. The "hukou" is a registration certificate that gives members of the household access to free or subsidized social services, including healthcare and schools. Of the 400,000 professionals who became new residents in Xi'an, 65 percent were recent graduates or were recruited via a program to attract talent to the city.

Wuhan, a city in central China, offers discounts on house purchases for buyers who graduated from college within the previous five years. Tianjin provided hukou registration to 5,800 households over one week in a push to meet an urgent demand for skilled professionals. And the eastern city of Hangzhou has released its latest recruitment policies for teachers and school presidents, offering subsidies of up to 1.7 million yuan.
