In Serbia, the number of visitors from China grew by 254 percent over the last year.

There were also strong gains for Montenegro with a rise of 153 percent, Croatia (46 percent), Poland (30 percent), and Finland (20 percent).

Now, the European Travel Commission has revealed that alongside the obvious cultural and economic benefits associated with this growth, there’s another reason for Europeans to embrace it.

That’s because Chinese demand has helped Europe to remain the most visited region in the world.

The Commission attributes several factors as being behind the growth of Chinese visitors to Europe:

”China continues to fuel arrivals growth across European destinations helped by its expanding middle class, increased air connectivity and easier visa procedures, altogether contributing significantly to the surge of outbound travel from this market.”

It also adds that:

”The 2018 EU-China Tfeourism Year is expected to further increase the visibility of Europe as a tourism destination in China and help sustain Europe’s inbound tourism market share…”

”Chinese tourist arrivals are expected at a significant level over the next four-year period, potentially at 7.5% a year on average.”
