Municipal officials in Chengdu say they also plan to expand the list of countries allowed 72-hour visa-free transit. Currently, there are 51 countries that enjoy the benefit in Chengdu, provided foreign travelers from these countries hold a visa and ticket for their destination country.
The aim of the plan is to boost Chengdu's development as an international destination for tourists.
