A reminder will be sent via text message to users who break the rules, but the 5 yuan fine (about 0.70 U.S. dollars) will be refunded as long as the user moves the bike back to an approved parking area within 24 hours.

Mobike will also recommend parking spots to users once they start to ride a bikes, and offer coupons or other rewards for good parking behavior.

Mobike said that the practice of building electronic fences is to help educate users to become more responsible for how they use public space.
