Driver involved in Hangzhou fatal crash wearing slippers while driving

A police investigation into the cause of a fatal car accident in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, has found that the driver was wearing slippers when she accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, slamming into other cars and pedestrians.

The driver was crossing an intersection in downtown Hangzhou on July 30 when she accelerated up to 132 kilometers an hour. The car crash left four people dead, and 13 injured. Police said that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the accident.

The car involved in the accident has been sent for examination by a third party as the investigation into the accident continues.
