Beijingers face a 7-year wait for an electric vehicle license plate
Beijing residents wanting to buy a New Energy Vehicle will find themselves at the end of a seven-year waiting list, according to the figures released on Thursday by Beijing's municipal government. This year around 360,000 applicants applied for one of the 54,000 license plates set aside for New Energy Vehicles in the city.

As of midnight on Thursday, 2,964,615 Beijing residents had applied for a license plate for a small vehicle – 120,000 more than the number of applications in the last license plate lottery.
