Beijing Internet Court accepts its first case since opening this week

The Beijing Internet Court is to hear its first case since it was established on Sunday.

The Beijing Daily reports on Tuesday that the popular Chinese short-video platform "Douyin" is suing another short-video platform "Huopai" over an alleged unauthorized use of its video products.

Plaintiff Beijing Weibo Shijie Tech claims that the unauthorized move caused great economic loss and has demanded a compensation of 1 million yuan (around 145,000 USD).

The case, which was the first one officially accepted by the Beijing Internet Court, is among the over 200 cases filed online as of Monday, according to the report.

Beijing Internet Court, the second of its kind in China, was set up to protect business transactions, personal information, and intellectual property online. Disputes in online shopping, service contracts, lending, copyrights, domains are among the typical cases.
