The Italian-language edition of the "Classics Quoted by Xi" video series, produced by China Media Group (CMG), was launched in Italy on Thursday.

The launch coincides with a state visit to Italy by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The video is now available through multiple media outlets owned by Italy's most influential media groups Mediaset and Class Editori.

The video series, which features Xi Jinping's quotes from ancient Chinese stories and classics in his speeches and articles, demonstrates his deep understanding of traditional Chinese culture as well as his thoughts on state governance.

The series covers six topics: the welfare of the people; family traditions; cultivation of individual personalities; construction of honest administration; filial piety; and clean government.

Addressing the launch ceremony, CMG President Shen Haixiong said President Xi's quotes stem from the profound observations and perspectives of the Chinese people over the past 5,000 years on topics such as the relationship between man and nature, family and the state, and morality and the law.

The Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi has been increasingly embraced by the international community, including Italy, Shen added.

Fedele Confalonieri, Chairman of Mediaset, said at the launch ceremony that China and Italy, as the starting and ending points of the ancient Silk Road respectively, have made enormous contributions to the development and communication of the Silk Road. China and Italy are the best placed countries to combine the historical experience of the Silk Road with modern development practices, and the Belt and Road Initiative represents the best heritage of the Silk Road Spirit, he said. The theories contained in "Classics Quoted by Xi" enable people to better understand the concept of peaceful development advocated by the Belt and Road Initiative, added Confalonieri.
