CPPCC annual session wraps up

China's top political advisory body has wrapped up its annual session, having vowed to make a greater contribution to the country's development.

The closing session was presided over by Wang Yang, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, or CPPCC

In his speech, Wang Yang said that China is now closer to, more confident in, and more capable than ever before of realizing the dream of national rejuvenation.

He hailed the historic accomplishments of the CPPCC in developing the country, exploring the path of reform, and realizing the Chinese Dream, suggesting political advisory body carries an even greater responsibility now that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era.

The chairman called on the members of the CPPCC to maintain their resolve and pool their wisdom.

"...bring together wisdom and strength to realizing the Chinese dream of a great national rejuvenation, celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China through remarkable achievements, and contribute to securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and the building of China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful."

Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping, joined more than 2,000 CPPCC members to attend the closing session, at which the nation's political advisors approved the work report of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, along with an examination of proposals, and a political resolution on the second session of the 13th CPPCC National Committee.
