Hong Kong police arrested 148 during Monday's violent strike

Hong Kong police said on Tuesday that 148 people were arrested during Monday's strike on charges of rioting, illegal assembly, assaulting police and possessing offensive weapons.

Tse Chun-chung, chief superintendent of the Hong Kong Police Public Relations Branch, said at a press briefing that the 148 protesters comprise of 95 males and 53 females.

Protesters blocked roads and the metro system during their strikes across several regions of Hong Kong throughout the day.

Tse also said the protesters used slingshots and corrosive liquid against armored police, blocked their vehicles and threw burning objects at their stations.

At least 21 police stations were affected and seven police officers were injured, according to Tse.
