In a commentary published by RT on Wednesday, Galloway said the British press has done little reporting on the Yellow Vest protest movement in France that have been going on for the past 40 weeks, but they have been keen to produce a "veritable blizzard of in-depth analysis of the protestors" in Hong Kong.

He said British protesters would have been dealt with by commandos quickly and violently if they "broke into the British Parliament and hung a Russian flag over the Speaker's chair," or "occupied Heathrow Airport in such numbers and so disruptively that British Airways had to stop flights in and out of the airport, causing massive financial loss, dislocation, and personal inconvenience".

"No other country in the world would have shown such forbearance in the face of foreign-sponsored rioting destruction and sabotage of the national economy as China has," said the veteran British politician.

Galloway also pointed out that "across a century and a half of British rule in Hong Kong the people there were allowed no democracy of any kind."
